Mark T. Furgurson, Jr. - IAAI-CFI(V), CVFI, CFEI

Riffe Fire Investigations welcomed Mark Furgurson to our team effective January 2025. He has investigated hundreds of fires for both the public and private sectors. He has earned the industry’s gold standard --- Certified Fire Investigator from the International Association of Arson Investigators. He holds a master’s degree in Forensic Sciences (Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations), a bachelor’s degree in Fire, Arson and Explosives Investigations, and an associate’s degree in Fire Science. He is also a certified crime scene technician.

Since 2014 he has served as Assistant Fire Marshal in Henrico County, VA. On the private side he conducted fire investigations with Trident Engineering from October 2020 through December 2024. He began his career with the Henrico Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1994. Past experiences include firefighter, paramedic, fire prevention code enforcement, deputy emergency coordinator, emergency communications officer, safety area supervisor for King’s Dominion, and various supervisory roles.

With his experience and outstanding credentials, Mark Furgurson is adept at determining and documenting the origin and cause of fires and explosions. He is a qualified expert witness who is well-prepared to support his finding in court, when necessary. As our client you will appreciate his expertise, professionalism and diligence.
